Which template you need, and when

Each template covers one moment of the au pair year. Use them in this order and your au pair has the rules, the plan and the people in writing before the first working day.

Tips for filling them in

  • Go through the handbook and the schedule together in the first week. Questions come up faster when you read it side by side than when your au pair reads it alone.
  • Put a date on every version. When the school term or the hours change, update the document and hand over the new copy instead of explaining the change in a message.
  • The contract template is a starting point, not legal advice. Check it against the rules of your host country and your agency before anyone signs.
