What's new in AuPairSync

What changed in each version of the AuPairSync app, newest first. AuPairSync is made by a host family together with their au pair, and it gets better with every update.

1. Version 2.9.017 September 2026Latest

   The trial starts with the au pair

   The app is the same as in 2.8.0. This release changed what happens on our servers.

   The 30-day family trial now starts when the first au pair joins, not when the family is created. The days you spend setting up before your au pair arrives no longer count.

   Refunds add up. A refund or a late notice for an older period no longer locks a family that has paid for the current one.

   Parents hear when their au pair joins. The "au pair joined" notification now also arrives when an au pair joins with an invite code, as it already did for email invitations.

2. Version 2.8.016 September 2026

   Links that open, and the right question first

   Links open again. A link to a task, a message, a shopping list or an event closed the app when tapped. It now opens where it points.

   A second parent gets the right question first. Before asking for an invitation code, the app asks whether your family is already set up. If it isn't, you start it yourself instead of waiting for an invite that never comes.

   History does more. Completed tasks can be reopened from History, the list keeps up when a task is edited or deleted, and deleting an entire series now removes all of it.

   Also, an au pair's My Events in the calendar includes events nobody has been assigned to, and it's where she starts in a family with two au pairs. A repeating task with a chat keeps its next run, and a handover counts as read when the au pair taps Done and stays readable from her profile.

3. Version 2.7.015 September 2026

   The cookbook page, and what got done

   A dish carries its cookbook page. Scan the page a recipe comes from or pick a photo, tap it to read it up close, and it still opens in a kitchen with no signal. Parents can swipe left on a dish in the picker to delete it.

   Completed tasks have a History. They no longer vanish: a History screen, grouped by day, sits behind the clock button in Tasks.

   When an au pair leaves, nothing gets lost. Parents archiving an au pair can give a reason, leave a handover note and hand open tasks to someone they pick. The departing au pair sees how long access lasts and can write a handover for whoever comes next.

   Babysitting works from the notification. Accept and Decline sit on the notification itself, accepting there or on the dashboard adds the event and tells the parent, and a family with two au pairs chooses who is asked.

   Also, "Remind before my routines" reminds each person of their own routines, parents with two or more au pairs get one calendar chip per au pair, au pairs see a child's full insurance number. And a change that can't be saved now says so and puts things back.

4. Version 2.6.014 September 2026

   What is for dinner

   What's for dinner is on the dashboard. Today's meals sit on the screen you both already open, with the children's allergies named once above them. "Plan the week" opens the next seven days starting today, and a planned dish can be moved or copied to another day.

   A dish carries its recipe. Your dish library is what this family actually cooks, most-used first, with the last three weeks at hand. Each dish can hold a recipe link that opens inside the app, instructions typed by hand, or a photo of the cookbook page, and your au pair can add and correct them too.

   Your own currency. Instead of a list of six, every family can now enter the currency it actually uses.

   Also, quiet hours can be switched on, the "Manage invites" button in the invitation email lands on the family screen, the setup checklist says the invitation is already out, and urgent announcements count correctly in Spanish and French.

5. Version 2.5.011 September 2026

   A calendar that says when it filters, and money per currency

   The calendar now says when it is filtering. A filter you set once stayed set, and an empty calendar gave no hint why. Every active filter shows as a chip now, and deleting a single date of a recurring activity actually removes it.

   Messages behave. Pinning, reacting and deleting did nothing on messages loaded from the server, and now they work. A message you send waits until the server has it, instead of quietly disappearing when the connection drops. Tapping a message or task notification opens that message or task.

   Money adds up per currency. Open expenses, the archive and each person's total show one amount per currency instead of mixing euros and francs into one number. The receipt scanner sits in the expense form and suggests the amount, and the expense archive has a way in again.

   Also, the new-event form says what is still missing, visa and programme-end reminders can be switched on one by one, and the theme you chose is applied again.

6. Version 2.4.23 September 2026

   What an au pair may change

   An au pair can now change what they created themselves: their own tasks, their own expenses until they are reimbursed, and events they created or are responsible for. The Edit button had been there for a while — it simply refused.

   A single day can be lifted out of a routine again. When the routine named a particular parent, responsibility used to snap straight back.

   The invitation names the role the code actually grants. It promised everyone "au pair", including a second parent. And a copied parent code can finally be pasted.

   The expense summary on the shopping tab opens when you tap it. Cancelling takes one tap: the subscription row opens Apple's own subscription screen. And the calendar has stopped warning about conflicts that are not conflicts.

7. Version 2.4.01 September 2026

   Your first child, and one subscription for the whole family

   Adding your first child is now part of setting up the family, instead of a question afterwards.

   The family subscription arrives: one price covers everyone — both parents, your au pair, iPhone and Android. Existing families keep AuPairSync free, permanently.

   Fixes: the dashboard now shows one-off changes to a routine, the same as the calendar does. Saving and skipping show that they are working instead of appearing to do nothing.

8. Version 2.3.028 August 2026

   Babysitting that checks first, shopping you can open

   Babysitting checks a new request against your existing bookings, and warns you if it would push the day past the working hours you agreed. Both are advisories — you can still send.

   Shopping tasks now open into their own detail view instead of sitting in the list untappable.

   Former au pairs: three new screens under Family settings show which records are kept, what is in them, and when the twelve-month deletion clock runs out.

   Copy a day's schedule to any other days, not just "like Monday" or "Mon–Fri".

   Au pairs show their photo instead of initials, photos can be captured in the app, recurring activities land on the right day, and absence durations count correctly.

9. Version 2.2.025 August 2026

   Translation, Siri and the receipt scanner

   Your au pair and your family rarely share a first language. This release is mostly about that.

   Translate any message. Press and hold a message in the family chat, then tap Translate. The translation appears under the original rather than replacing it, and names and mentions stay exactly as written. Translation happens on your iPhone — the message is not sent anywhere.

   Reply suggestions. Three ready-made replies now sit above the keyboard, for the moments when you are answering with one hand. Requires iPhone 15 Pro or newer with Apple Intelligence turned on.

   Scan a receipt. Logging an expense no longer means squinting at a till slip. Photograph it and the amount fills itself in. Nothing is saved until you confirm it.

   Find things from anywhere. Events, tasks and child profiles now show up in iPhone search. Siri can tick off a task, add an event, or read out what is still open today.

10. Version 2.1.023 August 2026

    Working hours, and the family before the form

    Working hours: au pairs log their time and submit the week. Host families confirm or ask — and get an answer.

    Getting started: after the code you see the family first, then the form. Without a family you no longer land in an empty app.

    Dashboard: setup carries on past the first child, and an empty line plans an event.

    Widgets: medium and large show events, tasks, or both.

    Privacy controls, faster and more reliable

    Data & Privacy: a new settings section lets you control anonymous usage analytics (off until you turn it on) and request a full export of your account data.

    Faster & lighter: quicker loading, cached profile photos, and noticeably less mobile data used in the background.

    Smoother onboarding: new host families go straight to adding their first child, and empty screens guide you to get set up.

    Reliable recurring activities: weekly events now stay anchored to their schedule's time zone, so they show at the right time even when you travel.

    Shopping suggestions: frequently bought items appear as quick chips when you create a list.

    Stability & security: fixed a crash when adding a child, hardened the dashboard, and strengthened account, invite, and data protections.
