Connected AI Apps

Parents can connect Claude or ChatGPT to AuPairSync and ask it about the family's plans. If a parent allows it, the AI app can also add, change, cancel, complete or delete events and tasks, and post announcements to the family. It can also read the family's announcements. The AI apps page has an overview.

How to connect an AI app

  1. In AuPairSync, open Settings → Legal → Connected AI apps and turn on “Allow AI apps”. Only a parent can do this, and the family needs an active subscription or trial.
  2. In Claude or ChatGPT, add AuPairSync as a custom connector with the server address https://mcp.aupairsync.com/mcp. The Connected AI apps screen has a Copy server address button.
  3. The AI app opens the AuPairSync sign-in page. Sign in with your AuPairSync account.
  4. Tick the boxes for what the app may do (see below) and tap Allow.

  • “Allow creating events, tasks and announcements”: the app can add calendar events and tasks and post announcements to the family when you ask it. Before it posts an announcement, it shows you the exact title and text and who will be notified, and posts it only after you confirm. Everyone in the family is notified, the au pair included. It cannot change or delete announcements, and the number of posts is limited per connection and per family.
  • “Allow changing and deleting”: the app can change, cancel, complete, reopen or delete events and tasks when you ask it, with the same rights you have in the app. It shows you a summary and waits for your yes before it cancels or deletes anything.

Both boxes start unticked. With neither ticked, the app can only read. A connection never gains these rights on its own: to change them, connect the app again from the AI app and tick the box. This also applies to announcements: a connection from before they were added on October 4, 2026 can neither read nor post them until you connect the app again.

The sparkle and “Added by”

From AuPairSync 3.6, an event or task an AI app added or changed has a small sparkle after its title in the calendar, the agenda, the dashboard and the task list. Its detail says “Added by” or “Changed by” with the app's name and the time. You can edit or delete it like any other entry. An announcement an AI app posted shows the app's name from version 3.7.

The Activity tab

In Settings → Legal → Connected AI apps, tap an app. The Access tab shows what it may do, and the Activity tab lists every event and task it added, changed, cancelled, completed or deleted. Tap an entry to open it.

Revoking access

Tap the app in Connected AI apps, then Revoke access. It stops at once and can't read or change anything until a parent connects it again. Turning off “Allow AI apps” revokes every connected app. You can do the same on the web at mcp.aupairsync.com/connections.

For au pairs: objecting

Au pairs see which AI apps are connected in Settings → Legal → Connected AI apps, and what the apps can read about them. To object, write to privacy@aupairsync.com. We then leave your expenses and time off out of what connected AI apps can read, show you only as “au pair” without your name, and no AI app can assign you any more. The family's calendar, tasks and shopping lists stay readable, including entries you are assigned to and titles you wrote. Your family can still assign you in the app.

What an AI app never sees

Messages and chats, documents, photos and receipts, medical, allergy and insurance details, passport and visa details, notes and descriptions, and the reason for a time-off request. Titles, places and shopping items are shared as they were written, whoever in the family wrote them, the au pair included. See section 2.5 of our privacy policy.
