Au Pair Schedule Checker

Enter the hours you plan for each day. We check them against the rules of your programme and name the days that break them.

At most 45 hours a week and 10 hours a day, with 1.5 days off every week.

The checker covers two programmes so far: the U.S. J-1 au pair programme and au pairs in Germany.

This week breaks three rules

  • 46.5 hours in total. The weekly cap is 45. You are 1.5 hours over.
  • Thursday runs 10.5 hours. No single day may go past 10, however the week adds up.
  • 1 of the 1.5 days off. Counted: Sunday (full day).
  • Every other day stays within the daily cap of 10 hours.

How the checker counts days off: a day with no hours is a full day off, and a day with at most half the daily cap (5 hours here) counts as half a day off. This is the checker's own counting rule, not a legal definition.
